The First Annual Michael Trama Memorial 5K Walk/Run will be held on Sunday, Sept. 26, at 9 a.m. at Centre Island Beach in Bayville. The charity fundraiser is in honor of Michael Trama. Michael who died in March 2010. He was a local coach, founder of Locust Valley Bayville Soccer Club; and a coach to many of the children of the Locust Valley/Bayville families. Sponsored by numerous local businesses and community members, the event will benefit the educational fund for the children of Michael Trama.
The day will include the 5K walk/run, music, children’s fun run, health resource fair and children’s activities.
The 5K (3.107 miles) flat race course includes the scenic roads of the Village of Bayville. With Centre Island Beach as both the start and finish line, the race route splits every mile. Runners will be managed through Island Running and will be timed using Winning Chip technology.
Awards will be given to the top male and female runners overall, as well as the first runner in the following age categories: Ages: 12 & Under, 13-15, 16-18, 19-29, 30- 39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-Older, and the physically challenged. Awards will be presented to the first female & male walkers and the first female & male Village of Bayville residents. Awards will be presented following the race completion.
Pre-Register online or by mail prior to Sept. 15, for only $20/Adult; $10/Children 12 & Under; $10/Seniors; $50/Family of Four (2 adults/2 children); $75/Team of 10; Pre-registrants will receive a commemorative 2010 Race T-Shirt. Indicate T-Shirt Size at time of mail/online registration. Registration, race number & electronic chip timing device/packets can be picked up on Sunday, September 26, 2010, between 7:30 a.m. to 8:45 a.m. at the Oak Neck Athletic Clubhouse located at Centre Island Beach on the day of event. Cash or check only for in-person/day of race registration. Online pre-registration preferred at islandrunning.net. No rollerblades, roller skates, skateboards, bicycles or pets are permitted.
A Runners Raffle will be held at Centre Island Beach following the race. Many prizes will be awarded; all donated by area businesses including dinner at our finest restaurants and gift certificates from local shops and boutiques.
