Greg Van Dyke Knows Oyster Bay
Greg Van Dyke was the first caller for the mystery picture in the July 22 issue of the Enterprise Pilot. He said correctly, “It’s a picture of the Sagamore Yacht Club.” He added on a personal note, “All is well.”
Faith Martin, a young lady called, and said, “It’s Sagamore Yacht Club.”
Paige Dawson called to correctly identify the mystery picture. “It was taken at Sagamore Yacht Club looking from under the awning and looking across the harbor,” she said correctly.
FYI: if you didn’t read the caption on the recent article about the Oyster Bay Railroad Museum Summer Solstice party, it mentioned that Ms. Dawson gets a lot of credit for selling the Mariner’s Walk apartments. Walter Imperatore of Renaissance Properties said that Mariner’s Walk had only one apartment in the front to rent; and four in the back. All the other units are full! Paige Dawson of Laffey Associates has been working on the project.
Mr. Imperatore also said that the lovely Victorian house Renaissance Properties restored on Hamilton Avenue, had rented three of the immaculate apartments they created in the house. They restored the original porch that had been covered over to create living space. The house is just beautiful now.
An email responder, Rich Reynolds of Niskayuna, NY said, “This week’s mystery picture is the “million dollar view” of Oyster Bay Harbor and Centre Island from the lower deck of the Sagamore Yacht Club. I and my fellow Glen Cove Yacht Club sailors have enjoyed the hospitality of the Sagamore Yacht Club on numerous sailing visits.”
A first time caller, said, “The picture in this weeks paper is the back of Sagamore Yacht Club. It’s the little area that overlooks the bay and has a pier where people can have their boats brought to the dock,” said Barbara McQuade.
Billy Minicozzi said, “It’s the Sagamore Yacht Club.” On a sports note he said, “Football training camp starts in August.” He hopes that the Jets will be in the Super Bowl this year.
Rhoda Crawford is back from Florida and called to say, “It’s Sagamore Yacht Club in Oyster Bay Harbor. She added, “It’s just nice to be up to see everybody!”
It’s been a lovely week. On “Royal Pains” this week, the cast was again in Oyster Bay. Town Hall looks great in the scenes of the Hampton’s hospital. Locust Valley was big in the story too, as was Theodore Roosevelt Park. They added redwood picnic tables and instantly the area by the sea wall looked cozy, friendly and “hamptonesque.” The story involved a vendor with a food truck parked near the water – which appeared to be a great idea! Will life follow art?
