Praised in The Wall Street Journal as “a most mature and sensitive pianist,” Chinese-born Di Wu’s reputation as an elegant yet exciting musician continues to grow. Wu made her professional debut at 14 with the Beijing Philharmonic, since then she has toured widely in Asia, Europe and the United States. This performance is part of the Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory 2010 Public Cultural Series. 6 p.m. in the Grace Auditorium, Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, One Bungtown Rd., Cold Spring Harbor. Migrating Birds Hike
Muttontown Preserve will host a hike designed for the enjoyment of bird-watchers, “Migrating Birds.” In addition to showcasing birds within the preserve, the tour guide on the three-hour hike will provide information on migration patterns and offer a demonstration of bird-banding. The hike starts at 8:30 a.m. Enrollment for the hike ($5) is limited and preregistration is required by calling 571-8500 weekdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The hike will begin at the Bill Paterson Nature Center on the preserve, Muttontown Ln., south of 25A, East Norwich.
