Fashion Week
On Sept. 10, in conjunction with Fashion Week, Americana Manhasset and the Salamatina Gallery will host the opening reception for the exhibit Fashion Icons. The exhibit will feature works by award-winning French born photographer, Laurent Elie Badessi and American photographer and artist Andres Serrano. The show will include black-and-white and color images. Americana Manhasset celebrates Fashion Week with two Fall Fashion lunches: The first, on Sept. 14 at Toku Modern Asian, from noon to 2 p.m., highlights the latest fall fashions from favorite brands including Donna Karan New York, CH Carolina Herrera, Hirshleifers, J.Mendel and Ermenegildo Zegna. The second, on Sept. 16 at Toku Modern Asian, features fall’s hottest looks from top designers including Fendi, Gucci, Louis Vuitton, MaxMara and Oscar de la Renta. Memorial Commemoration
In remembrance of our friends, neighbors and loved ones, NYS Senator Carl L. Marcellino invites the public to attend the 9th Anniversary of the Oyster Bay Sept. 11 Memorial in a ceremony at 10:30 a.m. at the 9/11 Memorial at he Western Waterfront on West End Ave. There will be a reception following the ceremony. The stone memorial has the names of local people inscribed on it and has been a focal point in the community to remember those friends, family and neighbors lost in the international catastrophe. Atlantic Steamer Fire Company will again participate in the event and host the reception. Rain or shine.

Migrating Birds Hike
Muttontown Preserve will host a hike designed for the enjoyment of bird-watchers, “Migrating Birds.” In addition to showcasing birds within the preserve, the tour guide on the three-hour hike will provide information on migration patterns and offer a demonstration of bird-banding. The hike starts at 8:30 a.m. Enrollment for the hike ($5) is limited and preregistration is required by calling 571-8500 weekdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The hike will begin at the Bill Paterson Nature Center on the preserve, Muttontown Ln., south of 25A, East Norwich.

Gala Night by The Bay
All interested members of the public are invited and welcome to share a Gala Friends Night by The Bay with The Friends of Sagamore Hill from 7 to 10 p.m. at the Sagamore Yacht Club in Oyster Bay for a buffet supper and a presentation of “Secret Treasures from TR’s Basement.” Artifacts and treasures, never before seen or publicly displayed from Theodore Roosevelt’s home will be presented by staff from the Sagamore Hill National Historic Site and guests will also enjoy cocktails and a buffet supper overlooking Oyster Bay harbor. 2010 Public Concert Series
Presented by the Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory at 6 p.m. in the Grace Auditorium, Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, One Bungtown Rd., Cold Spring Harbor. Program: Hahn-Bin, winner of the 2008-09 Young Concert Artists International Auditions. Hahn-Bin earned his diploma in 2009 from the Juilliard School, where he worked with Itzhak Perlman and Catherine Cho. He has been working with Mr. Perlman at the Perlman Music Program since 2002 and performed the Dvorak Piano Quintet with him at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in 2008. Hahn-Bin plays an 1825 J. F. Pressenda violin from the Mandell Collection of Southern California. In addition to playing the violin, Hahn-Bin works regularly on creating visual artworks and composing poetry.
