The Town of Oyster Bay held it’s regular town board meeting on Sept. 7 at 10 a.m. and a number of resolutions relevant to the Hicksville community were highlighted.
Town board members reminded anyone wishing to comment at the regular meetings that they must fill out a “persons intending to speak” form, which can be obtained from the town clerk.
Eight resolutions presented were pertinent to Hicksville and ranged from bicycle lockers at the train station to state funding programs for sidewalks and curbs.
An agreement was approved through Dec. 31, 2012 for maintenance and operation of bicycle lockers with NYSDOT and Metropool at the Hicksville train station. A change order was also approved for the ongoing construction of the new parking facility at the station, where work is slated to end by mid-March 2011.
Another resolution authorized the town supervisor and deputy supervisor to sign various grant documents related to the New York State funded Community Capital Assistance Program, which will aid in the reconstruction of sidewalks and curbs along Duffy Avenue in Hicksville.
The town also approved a resolution that will provide on-call consultant service for technical assistance at Hicksville High School for the replacement track. A similar resolution was approved for technical assistance relative to architecture at the PAL Athletic Facility.
Through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, a resolution was passed for the town supervisor and Nassau County to use stimulus funds for a “streetscape project” on Herzog Place in Hicksville. The project will aid in the beautification and maintenance of the region.
According to a Town of Oyster Bay spokesperson, a property cleanup assessment was authorized for a piece of land on Brittle Lane. The spokesperson said that the town will step in to clean up when a property is left unkempt and the price will be placed on the Nassau County Tax Assessment Rolls for payment.
As a reminder, the weekly farmer’s market at the Hicksville train station will be open until Nov. 21. Also, the Tobay Marina will be dedicated to Judge Joseph J. Saladino, a longtime Massapequa resident and involved community member, on Sept. 19 at 11 a.m. and the fall harbor and beach cleanup is set for Sept. 25 at 8:30 a.m. at the Theodore Roosevelt Memorial Park (near the boat launching ramps) and will feature a BBQ for participants.
