Rock Hall Country Fair
Come enjoy bushels of fun at the 25th Annual Rock Hall Country Fair on Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 23 and 24, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. With an abundance of activities and attractions, there’s something sure to please everyone in your family.
This year, the Rock Hall Country Fair celebrates the “Golden Age of Piracy.” Join Ye Pyrate Brotherhood for a swashbuckling weekend of pillaging, plundering, pirate shows, treasure hunts and music. Children are invited to wear their best pirate costumes. The Country Fair features a harvest market, scarecrow making, delicious food, pony rides, animal farm and a craft area for children. Children will enjoy picking pumpkins in the pumpkin patch, scarecrow making, pony rides and the special children’s craft area.
Visitors will also enjoy a live country band, a harvest market with stunning autumn plants, produce and quilts, woodworking, a colonial historian, colonial games, a blacksmith and crafts. A food court with delicious treats is sure to tempt your palette. All proceeds will benefit the Friends of Rock Hall.
Rock Hall is one of the most historically significant structures in the Town of Hempstead. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the Georgian-style building was constructed circa 1767. It was originally the home of Josiah Martin, an English gentleman farmer. Thomas Hewlett, a member of one of Long Island’s most prominent early families, then purchased the mansion and 125 acres of land. The mansion is now owned and maintained by the Town of Hempstead and is affiliated with the Society for the Preservation of Long Island Antiquities.
