Obituary – Anna Louise Haugen

Anna Louise Haugen, 87 years old, a wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away on Oct. 2, 2010. Born in Jenkintown, PA, Louise moved to Bethpage in 1945 where she lived a full and happy life. She survived the passing of her husband Andrew in 2003 who was the love of her life and missed him dearly but spoke often of the time she could be with him.

She worked at Bethpage High School where she was known for making the morning announcements for nearly 20 years. Later, she worked with her husband and son at Haugen Brothers Heating and Cooling in Farmingdale. She was a caring person with an enormous capacity for love and quick with a joke. She was thoughtful of others and always let her family know she was thinking of them. We are sure she is thinking of them today.

Louise met Andrew during WWII when she was a volunteer for the USO. Andrew and Louise were married for 58 years and had an extended and loving family. Mother to Kathy and husband Daniel Rockhill of Lecompton, KS, Sally and husband Brian Cassin of Glen Rock, NJ, and Andrew Jr. and wife Mary of Bethpage. Grandmother of Zach Rockhill (Hanneline), Ollie Cassin (Allison), Gabriel Rockhill (Emily), Olivia Billingsley (Ben), Hannah Hurst (Ian), A.J. Haugen (Donna), Anna Haugen, Conor, Cassin and Jimmy Haugen. Great-grandmother of Hank Hurst, Sunniva Rockhill, Grace Cassin, Drew Haugen, Annabelle Hurst, Lulu Billingsley, Emily Haugen, Charlotte Cassin, Nicholas Haugen, Teddy Hurst, Oscar Billingsley and Marlow Rockhill.

Louise was a devoted and working member of the United Methodist Church of Bethpage for more than 60 years along with her husband Andrew. She was also a member of the Women’s Club of Bethpage where she was the president for more than 10 years. She will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her. Arrangements were made by Arthur F. White Funeral Home. A service was held at the United Methodist Church. Interment LI Long Cemetery.
