NHP 32 vs. Roslyn 7

The girls from New Hyde Park came out swinging to start the playoffs scoring 18 runs before making an out in the top of the first inning. Kayla Fitzpatrick led off the game with a triple then Jenny Hickey, Melissa Ward, Ann Grimshaw followed with singles before Maggie Donnelly doubled in a few runs and Samantha Merino and Dani Giordano added 2 more RBI singles. Sheila Krische led the offense with 5 hits and 4 runs. Emma Nidermaier had 2 hits and 2 runs. Gabby Morales was on base 4 times including a sharp single to center leading off the 4th inning. Sophia Jacoby had 2 hits and scored a run. Kayla was on base 5 times including a single, double and triple. Kim Velsor had 3 singles. Jenny, Kayla, Maggie and Dani each pitched a solid inning in the win.

NHP 15 vs Garden City South 5

Melissa pitched 3 1/3 strong innings giving up only one earned run while striking out 5 batters. Melissa also singled and scored twice in the win. Maggie Donnelly had an excellent game catching. Maggie picked off 2 runners at third in the same inning to help Melissa get out of a bases loaded jam. The second runner broke for home but Ann Grimshaw playing third base made the return throw to home to get the out. Maggie had 2 hits and scored a run as well. Jenny Hickey closed out the game by striking out the final 2 batters. Jenny helped the offense with a single, 2 walks and 3 runs scored. Ann had 2 solid hits including a long double to left. Kim Velsor had a single that turned into a homerun when the throw went into the outfield. Dani Giordano had 2 hits and scored a run while playing solid at first base. Samantha Merino had the big hit with a bases clearing triple to plate all 3 runners.

 New Hyde Park Little Boys Minors Baseball

NHP 7 vs. East Williston 2

The boys from New Hyde Park came back to beat a very tough East Williston team. After a tough 7-6 loss on Saturday to Malverne, New Hyde Park trailed 2-0 in the 4th inning when Tommy Donnelly scorched a double down the right field line to score Joey Vitiello and Cliff Baumann who each walked leading off the inning. Adrian Puran knocked in the go ahead run on a solid ground out to 2nd base scoring Tommy. Robby McGuiness pitched 3 solid innings to get the win. Robby also hit a long triple and walked twice. Nick Duras pitched the final 2 innings to get the save. Taylor Artigas made a great play to end the game catching a long drive with the bases loaded then doubling off the runner at first to end the game. New Hyde Park opened up the game in the last inning. Nick led off with a single, Taylor followed with a single, Tommy Fitzpatrick then walked, Joey singled in a run, Cliff walked, Tommy Donnelly singled in another run, Adrian walked and Gabe Moreno finished the scoring with an RBI single. Brian Schoenberg walked twice and caught 4 solid innings including throwing out a runner at third on a wild pitch.
