Acappella Challenge
The Fifth Annual Collegiate Acappella Challenge willl be held at the OBHS Performing Arts Center, 150 E. Main St. Catch the action as some of the finest collegiate acappella groups (New Paltz Absolute Acappella, Stony Brook University High C’s, UConn Chordials, Queens College Tizmorat and SUNY Albany Serendipity) – sound off against each other in this juried, voice only (no instruments), singing competition. Babysitting will be provided. Dr. Tsabary is the author of the new internationally renowned parenting book, The Conscious Parent: Transforming Ourselves, Empowering Our Children.

LI Flute Festival
Sponsored by the LI Flute Club at Oyster Bay High School from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. The day offers many different opportunities to play and meet other flutists from the area. The festival is for flutists of all ages from students who have only played a year to professional teachers and amateur flute lovers. Guest artists will be the flute and piccolo players of the West Point Band of the U.S. Military Academy. Staff Sergeant Diana Powers and Staff Sergeant Torin Olsen will be giving a lecture and concert at 2 p.m. All festival participants will attend a master class on NYSSMA solos and play in an ensemble on their level. Also featuring Hofstra Flute Choir, a body mapping workshop, flute player Sergeant Pamela Sheryll-Pfeil, a performance by all participants and the grand finale of Bach’s Meditation.
