Hicksville Runner Anna Lau Scores in Six-Hour Run

Congratulations to veteran Hicksville runner Anna Lau, who successfully completed 28.89 miles in the 11th annual Greater Long Island Running Club Six-Hour 60th Birthday Run held in Sunken Meadow State Park on Sunday, Oct. 17. The 48-year-old Lau scored 32nd place overall and was the eighth woman.

In 2009, it was freezing rain, high winds and cold temperatures. In 2010, it was a picture perfect Long Island October day that welcomed 106 runners. The Sunken Meadow State Park course features a 2.1-mile loop on paved pathways and dirt paths, with several rolling hills each time around.

A very special thank you and congratulations to Myron Bellovin and Fred von der Heydt, who co-directed the event for the fourth consecutive year, and to our very good friend from Woodbury Country Deli for still another year of great support.

“Our congratulations and thanks to Hicksville’s Anna Lau and to all the other runners who made this a special day for the Long Island running community,” said Bellovin, adding, “We look forward to seeing Anna back again in 2011.”
