Four Village Studio was the winner of two awards at this year’s Alliance for Community Media, Northeast Regional Video Festival. The studio garnered a second- and third-place award in two very competitive categories.
Editors James Green and Veronica Venturi won second place in the Promo/PSA category for their 30-second promotional piece advertising the Floral Park Centennial Commemorative DVD Collection.
The studio won a third-place award in the Music and Performance category for “Wes Houston Presents …” Host producer Wes Houston was honored for an episode that featured a performance by a legendary member of Long Island’s blues scene, “Roast Beef” Joe Samuels.
The award winners were acknowledged at a ceremony held in Concord, NH, on Saturday, Nov. 13. The annual regional festival accepts program entries from community television producers throughout New England and New York State. This is the 11th year that Four Village Studio has submitted entries to the festival, where more than 550 programs competed for the top award. 4VS has garnered 32 awards, in a wide variety of categories, since first entering the competition.
On a related note, the Floral Park Centennial Commemorative DVD collection is once again available for sale during the holiday season. This limited supply collection features seven productions on four discs totaling well over seven hours of programming. This commemorative includes the Centennial Parade, the Fireworks Display, a Floral Park History Walk, hundreds of historical photographs and much more. Among the seven programs, two shows were first-place award winners at the 2008 ACM-NE Regional Video Festival.
