On Wednesday, Jan. 19 the Farmingdale School Board announced the acceptance of Ellen Krammer’s resignation for the purpose of retirement.
Krammer joined Farmingdale Schools over 40 years ago and has served as an elementary teacher, a middle school math teacher, a teacher of alcohol prevention and a central office administrative director.
Her most recent role, which began in 1988, included responsibility for the business, home and careers, technology, health and social work curricula. She has been the coordinator for our grants throughout the district and has been a vital part of the district’s program steering committees.
Krammer has worn many hats. To students, she is the woman who initiated the Technology Honor Society, the Community and Careers Breakfast, the Farmingdale Community Summit, the Universal Pre-Kindergarten, the Place and the infant reading programs. She also focused on the larger Farmingdale community. She has been the energy behind Project COPE, the CAC committee, Rotary, the Long Island Works Coalition, the Weed and Seed program, the Farmingdale College career and technical education program, Commerce Plaza, the YES Community Counseling Center and the school to work effort. She has been a liaison with the Town of Oyster Bay and the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation as she promotes connections the students need for success.
Krammer’s ability to work with students, parents, families, elected officials, local businesses and government bureaucracies to do, in her own words, “what is best for kids” has been the pinnacle of what educators try to do. Her success is an inspiration to the district and the community as she transitions into retirement.
