Run for a cause and sign up for the Brooke Jackman Race for Literacy in Oyster Bay on Saturday, May 14. Proceeds to benefit and support youth literacy, supply books and build libraries for underprivileged children in the greater New York area.
The Race begins at 10:15 a.m. at the Theodore Roosevelt Elementary School in Oyster Bay, where a bronze statue of a young girl standing and reading a book in a garden with a bench, is a reminder of Brooke.
“Hope to see you all there and thank-you for your continued support of the Brooke Jackman Foundation,” said Erin Jackman, executive director. Many local residents remember Brooke and the Jackman family and annually volunteer to help at the race, as well as participating in it.
Long Island’s own WBAB will be there playing your favorite music. Dozens of prizes will be awarded to winners in all age categories, and each participant will receive a T-shirt and water bottle commemorating the event. Children 10 and under are free with activities beginning at 9:15 a.m. and the Quarter-mile Fun Run at 9:45 a.m. with prizes for all awarded at the end.
