A musical comedy using the music of Elvis. It takes place in 1955, where one girl’s dream, and a surprise visit from a leather-jacketed stranger, help a small town discover the power of rock & roll. Your Hit Parade
Hofstra Entertainment presents Your Hit Parade – Celebrating the Music of the 1930s, May 14 (8 p.m.) and May 15 (2 p.m.) at the John Cranford Adams Playhouse, South Campus. There will be a special tribute to the songs of 1935, in honor of Hofstra’s 75th anniversary. The concert features a 10-piece all-star band and features guest vocalists. Songs include Little Girl Blue, A Fine Romance, Body and Soul, All of Me, Stardust, All or Nothing at All, Just One of Those Things, Goody, Goody, My Romance and My Heart Belongs to Daddy. This production is inspired by the radio classic Your Hit Parade. Tickets are $27; $23 senior citizen (over 65) with ID; $18 matriculated Hofstra or non-Hofstra student with ID. Box office 463-6644.

Don Giovanni
The Bronx Opera Company presents Mozart’s Don Giovanni on May 20 at 8 p.m. and May 21 at 2 p.m. Hofstra University’s John Cranford Adams Playhouse. The opera will be fully-staged, performed in English, accompanied by a 30-piece orchestra. Directed by Nicole Lee Aiossa; artistic director Michael Spierman. Tickets are $30; $25 senior citizens (over 65 with ID); $10 for students (with ID); children under 12 free with one full-price paid adult ticket. Good Deed Contest
Dr. Jay Piskin will be giving away a brand new computer to the winner who submits the best essay. Whether helping a senior citizen cross the street or helping an elderly woman with her groceries, or organizing a fundraiser at school to help other children in the community who are less fortunate, tell your good deed story to Dr. Piskin and you could win a computer. Dr. Jay Piskin believes there is no greater joy for a parent than knowing that their children are on the right path. The contest rewards Good Deeds done by children and teenagers to encourage them to make better choices in life. The contest, open to any youth 18 years of age and under, ends May 15. •Look Good…Feel Better, sponsored by LIJ Medical Center in association with the National Cosmetology Association, the Toiletry Fragrance Association and the American Cancer Society. The program reaches out to women with cancer and teaches them how to best apply makeup and wear their hair while undergoing cancer treatment.
