Don’t let Buttercup down.
Buttercup, a palomino pony with a light-brown mane, was rescued by the Suffolk County SPCA in April and now needs expensive surgery to remove an eye.
A fundraiser will be held Friday at Baiting Hollow Farm Vineyard will host help raise funds for the injured pony.
The event, which will run from 6-9 p.m., will feature a 50/50 raffle and Chinese auction. The cost is $20 per person and all money raised will go toward Buttercup’s medical expenses and to aid other animals in need.
On July 13, 46-year-old Marie Guerrera was charged with animal cruelty in connection with the discovery of malnourished livestock that were found unattended at Abbess Farm in Calverton. Buttercup was among the allegedly improperly cared for animals.
The more than two dozen farm animals rescued from the farm, which was in foreclosure, are now in foster homes while others have been adopted.
Guerrera will be arraigned July 27 at Southampton Town Justice Court.
