Hicksville Hurricanes Shell North Shore Bombers, 8-6

After losing a heartbreaking 2-1 game to the Long Island Mudcats, the 8-year-old Hicksville Hurricanes got back to their winning ways Sunday morning in the Glen Cove Mayor’s Trophy Tournament.

Billy Sullivan continued his strong pitching going four innings, striking out 10 and giving up two hits and no runs. Tyler Krom-Power got things going in the second inning with a leadoff walk and a stolen base to start a six-run rally.

Big RBI singles by Jeromy Poveda and Sean Baker helped keep the rally alive. Johnny Blazich also had a big single to start a rally in the fifth. Super defensive plays by Shane Buquicchio, Ryan Casper and the slick-fielding Nicky Botto helped Jack Fama nail down the save for the 8-6 win over the North Shore Bombers.
