Key Wilde and Mr. Clarke to Perform at LICM

On Sunday, August 21 and Monday, August 22 at 2 p.m.  Key Wilde and Mr. Clarke create a zany musical world where pigs grow as big as tractor-trailers, little dogs think they are bullfrogs and people can go to the moon in a red balloon. With original, interactive songs ranging in style from bluegrass to 80s punk rock, they will get everyone up and dancing! Ages: 3 and up. Fee: $4 with museum admission, $3 LICM members, $8 theater only. All ages. Free with museum admission.  Enjoy summer bonus days at LICM.  The Museum is open every day between July 11 and September 4. All activities will be held at the Long Island Children’s Museum, 11 Davis Avenue, Garden City. Children must be accompanied by an adult. St. Aidan’s Summer Stage to Present Guys and Dolls

After a few years hiatus, multi-talented director John Hayes will once again direct the youth in the area in the ever popular musical Guys and Dolls,  Book by Jo Swerling & Abe Burrows, based on The Idyll of Miss Sara Browe and Blood Pressure, two short stories by Damon Runyon. Hayes will be joined by Musical Director Reagan Stone and Choreographer Barbara Tromba-Murphy. Show dates are set for Aug.19 at 8 p.m., Aug. 20 at 8 p.m. and Aug. 21 at 2 p.m. at air-conditioned Monsignor Kirwin Hall, Pembroke Street and Willis Avenue, Williston Park. Summer Ceili at Irish American Society

The Irish American Society of Nassau, Suffolk and Queens, Inc., 297 Willis Avenue, Mineola, will hold a Summer Ceili at 8:30 p.m. under the direction of Pete Kelly.

Long Island Daylily Society to Host Sale and Clinic

The Long Island Daylily Society will present a daylily sale and clinic from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. or until sold out at SUNY Farmingdale, Route 110 and Melville Road on the Great Lawn by Roosevelt Hall. All plants have been grown in members’ gardens so they are northern hardy and healthy. There will be traditional large-flowered varieties as well as miniatures, doubles and spiders. Plants of all colors including red, yellow, orange, gold, pink, purple and melon will be on the sale tables. Hundreds of plants will be available. Long Island Daylily members will be presenting a daylily clinic and workshop to answer all your questions on growing daylilies in your own garden. Members will also be present at the sales tables to offer assistance. The daylily has been called the “perfect perennial.” By careful selection of varieties, a daylily garden can provide continuous bloom throughout the summer.

Holy Spirit Church to Offer Driving Course

Church of the Holy Spirit in New Hyde Park is offering a Defensive Driving Course sponsored by the National Safety Council on Saturday, August 20.The class hours will be from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. The cost is $45. With this course participants will receive a 10 percent reduction in the liability and collisions portions of their insurance premium, and it will also remove up to four (4) points from their driving record. Cellini Lodge to Hold Annual Feast at Michael J. Tully Park

Spinner’s Grinners Laughter Yoga In New Hyde Park

Take time to participate in the happiest work-out method – a series of laughter, breathing and playfulness exercises with many, many health benefits.  Everyone can do this.  We will not be laying on the floor and no knowledge of yoga is necessary.  All activities are done either sitting or standing.  We meet twice per month, on a Wednesday night (for approx. 1 hr, 10 min.). The 17th Annual William F. Kelly Memorial Golf Classic

The 17th Annual William F. Kelly Memorial Golf Classic, sponsored by the Gladiator Fund, to benefit Jennver Cave, age 18, daughter of Nancy Wilder-Cave, Class of NHP Memorial ’71, who has a neurological disability,  will be held at the Eisenhower Park-Blue Course, located at Merrick and Stewart Avenue, East Meadow.  Registration and Continental Breakfast at 6:30 a.m. with a 7:30 a.m. shotgun start.  Dinner is at 2 p.m. at the New Hyde Park Inn, 214 Jericho Turnpike, New Hyde Park.  Cost is $170 (after Aug. 5, $185) to include 18 holes of golf, cart, breakfast, dinner and a 4-hour open bar.  $75 if you only want to attend dinner, which begins at 2 p.m..  Proper attire required, no jeans.  Soft spikes only. New Hyde Park Knights to Hold Dance

New Hyde Park Knights of Columbus located at 1000 Marcus Avenue, New Hyde Park will be holding their annual end of summer dance on September 10 from 7:30 to 11:30 p.m. This year’s theme is Hawaiian Luau Night. Cost is $45 per person and includes family-style dinner, open bar, dessert, coffee and tea. Music will be provided by Beat by Beat Entertainment. In addition to the DJ music guests will be treated to a performance by the Hawaiian Hula and Tahitian Dancers in full costume with audience participation. There will also be raffle prizes and 50/50. Golf Tournament to Benefit Veterans’ Groups

Long Island Fore Veterans is the proud sponsor of the 2011 Team Jesse Golf Tournament to be held on September 12th, at Cherry Creek Golf Course in Riverhead, N.Y.  Event proceeds will benefit the Veterans Support Fund and the Team Jesse Foundation, a 501(c)(3) charitable organization with a mission to provide education and support for families of fallen soldiers. Teachers Federal Credit Union, Long Island’s largest credit union, invites golfers and golf enthusiasts to join in making the September golf outing a fund-raising success. There will be a fundraiser to help save the P.A.L. on Denton Avenue in New Hyde Park,  held at the Elks Club, 901 Lakeville Avenue, New Hyde Park from 1 to 6 p.m. for a spaghetti dinner with meatballs, bread and salad.
