This became the Red Sharks’ motto following their division win to secure the number one seed for the playoffs. The Red Sharks played like a number one seed throughout the playoffs. The first opponent up for the Red Sharks was the Syosset Braves. The strength of the Red Sharks all season was pitching and defense! The pitching this season was led by Peter Carreca and defense was led by CJ Riccobono. Peter Carreca took the mound like the ace he is for the Red Sharks and held down Syosset. Brett Figelman came in to close out the game for the Red Sharks and was his dominant self on mound. CJ Riccobono was his gold glove self and led the defense with some outstanding plays at shortstop to help his pitchers. Matthew Rivera was his gold glove self at first base with some tough plays. Rivera led the game off the for the Red Sharks with a base hit and started a 3 run rally. Alex Banks ripped a double for two RBI’s. Nick Levkulic was his all around steady self with some key defensive plays and timely hitting. CJ Riccobono ripped a double to drive in a run. Peter Carreca followed with a hard single up the middle to drive in Riccobono. Chris Carbone was solid with his bat and glove. Chris Bruccoleri ignited the offense going 2 for 2. The Red Sharks beat Syosset 15 to 4 to advance to the Championship game versus the Levittown Tigers in a best of 3 series. Peter Carreca took to the hill to pitch 4 strong innings striking out 5 and Jordan Seidenberg aka Ralphie closed the game out. The offense was on this game scoring 15 runs again. Matthew Rivera started the offense with a hit. Jordan Seidenberg layed down a perfect bunt to reach first. CJ Riccobono ripped a single down the line to score Rivera. Alex Banks ripped a double past left field to socre 2. Eric Madenberg hit a double to drive on 2 runs in the first and the Redsharks put up a 6 spot in the first inning. Justin Tamara ripped a bases clearing triple in the 4th inng to put the game away. Brett Figelman and Peter Carreca walked 3 times and socred 3 runs each. Alex Banks and CJ Riccobono were both 2 for 2. Nick Levkulic made 2 outstanding defense plays to shut down and rally Levittown tried. The Red Sharks won 15 to 6 to take game one. Brett Figelman took to the hill for game 2 and completely shut down the Levittown Tigers. The offense was led by CJ Riccobono going 2 for 3 with 3 RBI’s and Alex Banks going 1 for 3 with 2 RBI’s. Kevin Langan had a big RBI hit for the Red Sharks. The Defense was outstanding for the Red Sharks. Justin Tamara called a good game behind the plate. Alex Banks caught the last three innings and was solid. Peter Carreca walked 4 times and stole 3 bases. Carreca also patroled center field. Jordan Seidenberg swung a hot bat going 2 for 3. Matthew Rivera stepped up big again like he did all year hitting a bomb for a double and driving in 3 runs to give the Red Sharks and 8 to 5 lead. Eric Madenberg played an all around solid game on defense and at the plate hitting a solid double up the middle. Chris Bruccoleri came in to close out the last two innings for the Red Sharks. Bruccoleri was steady in closing down Levitown. Justin Tamara played left field and caught the last out to secure the win and Championship for the Redsharks in a 8 to 7 victory. The coaching staff led by Vince Carreca and Joey Riccobono are very proud of the way the boys played this season. They did everything the coaching staff asked. John Tagios had an outstanding year for the Red Sharks behind the plate and was in Disney rooting for his team. PJ Viyas had a nice year for the Red Sharks and was also in Disney rooting his team on. The parents of the Red Sharks players are very proud of their boys who played 29 games (tournament and league play) and finished the summer with a 22 and 7 record! Go Red Sharks!REd
