The Hicksville Baseball Association (HBA) hosted its own girl’s softball tournament, The Hicksville Summer Challenge, during the week of Aug. 4. Three teams entered from Hicksville: one team in the (U10) Minors Division and two in the (U12) Majors division. All three teams came away with trophies.
The Minors Team went undefeated going 5-0 and won first place. The two Majors division teams came in first and second place. Team #1 went undefeated going 6-0, while Team #2 defeated teams from Baldwin, Port Washington and Mineola before losing in the championship game. Congratulations to all three teams. They should be proud of all accomplishments.
The tournament was a huge success thanks to the help of all the HBA staff with special thanks to Kim Torrellas (president), Jack Donnelly (girl’s president), Tom Asher and Lou Patrikis (girl’s directors).
