An open invitation for community residents to attend the Thursday, September 22nd, 2011 Civic Meeting being held at the Allen Park meeting room, 7:30 p.m. The topic of this meeting will be a ‘town hall’ discussion. We plan on providing time for an open dialogue, a lively debate and hopefully some consensus to be formed on issues critical to your everyday life.
Long Island and the country continues to stall in a weak economy, higher taxes, higher costs for goods that impact our daily life, poor to little significant job growth, young people still leaving Long Island, a lack of any affordable housing plan and the continued aging of our population. These are all big challenges that continue to persist, with no solid solutions in sight locally or nationally. Where is the leadership that can put us on a better path forward?
We need fresh ideas, since our elected officials are not really working together nor providing much vision. We the people must speak up to demand a better way. More studies and just restating the obvious is not leading, time is past due. We need solutions and actions that offer a road to opportunity for more Long Islanders, especially our young people, your sons, daughters and our grandchildren.
Please join us on Thursday. September 22 at 7:30 p.m at the Allen Park meeting room for this dialogue, debate and consensus. We want to hear your ideas. We hope to see all residents, young old and in between; Farmingdale High School students, college grads, homeowners and seniors. Bring your questions, ideas and some solutions for some of these pressing issues. From this meeting we will draft correspondence to our elected officials requesting their input and most importantly some action.
The Concerned Citizens Association of Farmingdale (CCAF) is a non-profit, non-partisan neighborhood civic organization dedicated to representing the ordinary citizens and homeowners of Farmingdale who wish to maintain and enhance the quality of life in their community. This civic offers a forum under which local residents can come together to acquire and disseminate information. The CCAF seeks to address concerns related to: zoning/development; public safety; environment; economic development and all issues collectively identified as necessary to achieve our common goal. The main goal of a civic is to help ensure that the government represents the needs of the public rather than those of special interest groups and to preserve and enhance our “small-town” atmosphere.
This goal can only be taken on with the support and participation of an active civic membership. Community involvement requires residents to be informed, participate in a dialogue and engage in potential solutions to issues. One voice can be heard but it takes many voices to be listened to and taken seriously.
The CCAF Civic Board continues to provide a forum for issues that are not only important to our community but also critical across Long Island.
