Obituary: James Dougherty

James (Jim) Dougherty, 84, of Bayville for 60 years, formerly of North Adams, MA, died on Sept. 16, 2011. Husband of Bette. Father of Jeffrey Dougherty (James Caffery), Timothy (Pamela), Beth Ann, Sharon Ward (Thomas) and the late Kadi. Brother of Budd Dougherty. Grandfather of Timothy Dougherty (Patricia), Patrick Dougherty, Kellen Dougherty, Kaity Ward and Holly Ward. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was a teacher at Bayville Elementary School and a 50-year member of the American Legion, Robert H. Spittel Post #1285. Arrangements were made by the Oyster Bay Funeral Home. Funeral Mass at St. Gertrude RC Church. Interment private. In lieu of flowers, donations to REC/LVSEA Scholarship Fund, Linda Schwartz, treasurer, 3 Hilton Court, Huntington, NY 11743-5363 would be appreciated.
