Month-long raffle offers 30 days to win prizes
The Sarah Grace Foundation For Children With Cancer, Inc., based in Hicksville, recently announced that a limited number of tickets are currently on sale for the 2011 Holiday Extravaganza, a month-long raffle for various prizes.
Throughout the month of November, the foundation will be holding a raffle-a-day and each $20 ticket purchased will be entered into the month-long raffle for such prizes as movie and restaurant gift certificates with the grand prize, a $150 Visa gift card, drawn on Thanksgiving Day.
Tickets are limited with only 300 available and each ticket will remain in the raffle throughout the month with winning tickets placed back into the raffle for a chance at additional prizes. Winners will be notified by email and their names posted on the foundation’s website. Prizes will be mailed, when possible.
All proceeds from the sale of raffle tickets will benefit the nonprofit and its mission to improve the quality of life of children with cancer and their families. The Sarah Grace Foundation is an all volunteer, 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation founded in 2003 by Matt and Marissa Weippert in memory of their daughter, Sarah Grace, who lost her battle with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) at the age of 12.
Having experienced firsthand the devastating emotional and financial impact the disease had on their family, the Weipperts set out to keep Sarah’s memory alive by helping other children and their families facing the challenges and hardships brought upon by childhood cancer.
The volunteer-run foundation works directly with the Pediatric Oncology Departments at various New York hospitals to help meet children’s wishes. And because cancer impacts the entire family and not just the sick child, the foundation also provides services to the siblings. Additionally, the foundation provides financial support and other assistance to help families offset medical costs and other related expenses.
To provide these services, the nonprofit relies heavily on donations from the community and monies raised through fundraisers such as the foundation’s annual Night of Laughter, this year’s production of The Odd Couple, the recent Silent Art Auction at Optical Heights and the Holiday Extravaganza.
“This is a wonderful opportunity to win some great prizes and support the foundation,” said Matt Weippert. “Proceeds from the raffle will help us continue offering an array of services and programs for children with cancer and their families and siblings, including holiday supermarket gift cards and toys and supplies for the foundation’s annual holiday party.”
