Theresa Varricchio Knows Oyster Bay

Theresa Varricchio called to identify the mystery picture in the Oct. 6 issue of the Enterprise Pilot. She said, “It’s the Oyster Bay Water District parking lot opposite Verrelli’s Market. She added, “My husband used to work there.”

The Varricchio name is big in plumbing in Oyster Bay!

Lost But Not Forgotten Email

While cleaning out our email messages we found one Matt Meng had said was coming from Eileen Aliani – but we missed seeing. He was, of course, correct – that it had been sent.

Ms. Aliani said, “The Mystery Picture in the Sept. 1 edition of the OB Enterprise-Pilot is the ‘Welcome to East Norwich’ sign at the corner of 25A and Rte 106. The photo was taken in the Spring when the tulips planted by the Rotary & the Committee for the Beautification of East Norwich were in bloom.

“The Committee tends to the area throughout the year. A project this year is to replace the dying evergreens in that area,” said Ms. Aliani on Sept. 4.

The mystery picture editor loves all your answers. They often add gems of information about the community, as the email from Ms. Aliani shows.

Many thanks to all, and keep reading, guessing and calling.

P.S. The photo from Oct. 6 had a great clue, the Ginko trees planted in the parking lot behind the Oyster Bay Water District, and adjacent to the Raynham Hall Museum Victorian Garden. The trees have wonderfully shaped leaves and are often seen in New York City streets for its hardiness. The garden was planned by David Lamb, landscape architect.
