Deborah Faith (Gross) Zarinfar, 51, of Sanford, ME, died suddenly after a long battle with cancer on Oct. 1, 2011.
Debby was born on Nov. 20, 1959 in Mineola, the daughter of the late Everett Flaig Gross and Faith DeVol Gross. She was raised in Farmingdale, where she graduated from Farmingdale High School in 1977. She played the viola and was a member of 4-H. She was formerly married to Majid Zarinfar. She moved to Yarmouth, ME, in 1988. She graduated from Southern Maine College with a B.S. degree in nursing. Most recently she worked as a psychiatric nurse with Southern Maine Medical Center Visiting Nurses.
Debby had great passions for collecting rocks and crystals, butterflies, hummingbirds and being near the ocean. She was an excellent cook; known for her bread, desserts, and seafood chowder.
She is survived by her spouse of 10 years, Charles Griswold Jr. of Sanford, ME, and three children, Rassul David Zarinfar of Houston, TX, Ruth Heather Zarinfar of Sanford, ME, and Charles Melvin Griswold III of Sanford, ME. She is also survived by two sisters, Cynthia O’Donnell of Chagrin Falls, OH, and Catherine Forrest of Framingham, MA; two aunts, Nancy DeVol of Hudson Falls, NY, and Ruth DeVol of Albany, NY; an uncle, William T. DeVol of Springfield, MO, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
There will be no visitation. A memorial celebration was held on Oct. 7 at the Crossroads United Methodist Church, Sanford, ME. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Maine Cancer Foundation, P.O. Box 533, Portland, ME 04112. The Autumn Green Funeral Home, Alfred, ME, is respectfully handling arrangements.
