On October 20, Nassau Community College hosted their 3rd Annual Breast Cancer Awareness Expo & 1-Mile Walk.
The event consisted of familiar faces including those from the Marketing, Health, Physical Education and Recreation areas, dedicated alumni, current students, athletic teams and The Nassau Community College Foundation.
From baked goods and refreshments to tie-dyed T-shirts, handmade dolls, handcrafted scarves, and music, everyone enjoyed working together to raise funds toward a great cause.
The Expo & 1 Mile Walk was a true success raising over $4,733. All proceeds went directly to Mid-Nassau Lend a Helping Hand centers which are located across Long Island. This reputable organization provides assistance as well as customized services to those suffering and recovering from breast cancer.
It’s amazing what one college can do when all areas come together at such a wonderful event to support the greater good of its students as well as its community.
The event was sponsored by: Intramural Well-Being Programs & the Health Physical Education and Recreation Department (Dr. Donna Bacon and Susan Mitchell), The Design Innovators Club (Club Advisors: Professor Heidi O’Connell and Professor Joe Pescatore), and Professor Dawn DiStefano’s Marketing and Sales students.
