Long Island University seeks shorter designations for campuses
Hicksville resident Venkata Sravani Kollu, a medical biology master’s student at LIU Post, is being featured in a series of advertisements as part of Long Island University’s rebranding campaign.
On Jan. 1, Long Island University rebranded itself as LIU. The names of LIU’s six campuses received shorter designations, uniting them under the new LIU brand and extending their reach in an increasingly digital world. The C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University is now LIU Post and the university’s other five locations are LIU Brooklyn, LIU Brentwood, LIU Riverhead, LIU Hudson at Rockland and LIU Hudson at Westchester.
As part of the advertising campaign, Kollu talks about how LIU Post enabled her to network with world-class faculty and researchers in the biomedical sciences. Venkata Sravani Kollu came to America with the passion to assist in research that would make a difference in the world. Venkata currently works with other graduate students in the program on DNA research studying gene expression and its role in the production of cancer cells. The ads featuring Kollu will appear in Metropolitan Transportation Authority bus shelters along Northern Boulevard in Queens and on Long Island Rail Road station platforms in Mineola, Massapequa, Bellmore, Port Washington, Wantagh, Hicksville and Westbury.
“The new campaign’s positioning statement, ‘Find Out How Good You Really Are,’ reaffirms LIU’s student-centric focus on education and differentiates the university among institutions in a competitive higher education market, according to LIU. This compelling messaging statement challenges prospective students to discover and develop their talents, whatever their background, experience or age,” according to a LIU spokesperson.
Kollu said she chose LIU Post because of its comprehensive 36-credit Master of Science degree program in Medical Biology. The LIU Post graduate program in Medical Biology has given Kollu the potential to partake in cutting-edge research and harness the skills needed for a successful career in the rapidly growing field of biomedical sciences.
LIU offers more than 558 undergraduate, graduate and doctoral degree programs and certificates, and educates over 24,000 students in degree-credit programs, including college courses in high schools.
