Ryan Dunn: One Year Later

The death of Jackass star Ryan Dunn came as a shock to all who knew him. One year later, people are still grieving with the loss of such a young, fun and promising talent.

Dunn was only 34 when he crashed his Porsche into a guardrail and  a tree in West Goshen, Penn., killing himself and his friend, Zachary Hartwell. Reports that Dunn was drunk and speeding circulated after their deaths were fed by a photo of him drinking with friends at a bar Dunn posted on Twitter the night of the crash.

Friends who were with Dunn, and even the bars’ manager, reportedly claimed he wasn’t too drunk to drive. But his toxicology reports suggested otherwise.

As reported by The Washington Post last year, Dunn was found to have had a blood alcohol level of .196, more than twice the legal limit of .08 in Pennsylvania. Investigators found Dunn was speeding at more than 130 mph.

Ryan Matthew Dunn was born on June 11, 1977 in Medina, Ohio. In his early teens, he moved to Pennsylvania with his parents. This is where he would meet Bam Margera and his life would change.

After making their own stunt films with friends as the “CKY Crew”, they were drafted to join the cast of what would eventually become Jackass. The series, which ran for three seasons, also spawned 3 hit movies.

Before the accident, Dunn was steadily breaking away from just being another Jackass. He was hosting the show Proving Ground on G4 and made a guest appearance on the MTV show Ridiculousness.
