Youngest player on WTA tour
Submitted by Jim Petricca, Herricks director of athletics
At the age of 5, Mia Vecchio, of Herricks, played tennis for fun.
At the age of 10, Mia played to keep busy.
At the age of 13, Mia dreamed of playing at the US Open…and now, at the age of 15, Mia just completed her first pro Women’s Tennis Tournament in Landsville Pennsylvania.
It is evident that Mia Vecchio is on the right path and with the help of her parents, Lorraine and Rudy, her coach Anna Bielen Zarska (who hails from Poland) and the Robbie Wagners Tennis Academy, she will be competing in many future pro events.
Vecchio is on her way and we wish her the best of luck. Currently, Mia is the youngest American female playing on the WTA Tour.
