Hicksville’s Theresa Caputo continues to juggle psychic gift with family life
With almost 200,000 fans on Facebook and millions of viewers tuning in on Sunday nights, Hicksville’s Theresa Caputo, star of the TLC show Long Island Medium, has come a long way since depending on word of mouth and business cards to perform readings.
The show, which premiers this Sunday night, Sept. 9 at 9 p.m., documents Caputo’s venture into the spirit world and how she manages to maintain a balance between her professional and personal life.
Caputo, according to her website, began “seeing spirit at age 4.” She suffered from anxiety at a young age and credits her spiritual healer, Pat Longo, for helping her harness her ability to communicate with those departed.
“It’s hard for me to describe because I see, hear and feel things differently than we do in the physical world. My wish for every person I come in contact with, is that they receive a message that will give them healing and closure to embrace life without their loved ones,” Caputo states.
The show, which is filmed in Hicksville, focuses on Caputo’s readings and how her career intertwines with her husband, Larry, and their two children, Larry and Victoria.
Caputo is booked to appear at many venues along the east coast in the coming months, including two shows at the NYCB Theatre at Westbury on Oct. 6. She recently appeared at the Hicksville Street Fair and was given a warm, hometown welcome.
She insists that the show hasn’t changed much about her life, save for one aspect.
“I say the only thing that changed is that I have both cameras and spirit following me now. At the end of the day I’m just Theresa Caputo, a medium, wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend from Hicksville,” she added.
