New Hyde Park Hosts 17th Annual Street Fair

Thousands come out to enjoy the sights and sounds of the day

Mother Nature certainly gave New Hyde Park a boost on Saturday, Sept. 15, as the village hosted its 17th Annual Street Fair. Indeed, as the sun rose that morning, hundreds of vendors set up shop along Jericho Turnpike between New Hyde Park Road and Covert Avenue to display their goods and services. As the temperature warmed up between 10 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., vendors were poised to see their sales heat up as well.

When they had enough shopping, visitors relaxed at a food court that was set up near New Hyde Park Road. Dozens of tables and folding chairs were surrounded by everything from zeppoles to gyros to funnel cakes. There was plenty to see ranging from street performers to martial arts demonstrations staged by disciples of the village’s Grand Master Chung Tae Kwon Do dojo. And, of course, no fair is complete without inflatable rides.  A parking lot along Jericho Turnpike was also transformed into an amusement park for small children.

Clearly, a good time was had by all.
