Emma Guevara Knows Oyster Bay

The mystery photograph in the Sept. 20 issue of the Enterprise Pilot was identified by Emma Guevara. She said, “The picture is behind the Earle-Wightman house on Summit Street.” She is correct.

The photograph was taken on July Fourth, when they served free ice cream and lemonade to everyone. The large building on the left is the Koenig Center, where the current exhibit “TR in ‘12” is on view. It tells the story of Theodore Roosevelt’s unsuccessful campaign for president. He was shot by John Schrank, who believed the American presidency should be only two terms. The exhibit is the first time the gun used to shoot TR, his glass case that was in his pocket with the bullet hole going through, and TR’s speech that helped slow down the bullet — are all exhibited at one time. The bullet missed TR’s heart and was left in his body. The exhibit runs now through Nov. 11. Call 922-5032 for more information.

Now you know everything we know.
