Twenty-year Floral Park resident
takes reigns of his new position
Gerry Bambrick was appointed village administrator and was sworn in by Mayor Thomas Tweedy at the Nov. 20 board of trustees meeting. He started his position on Nov. 26.
Bambrick previously served the village as trustee for six years from 2001 to 2007. As trustee, he served as recreation commissioner, library commissioner, building commissioner and as the village board liaison to the police department.
Bambrick also has extensive governmental experience in addition to his work as trustee. He was vice chairman of the Nassau County Planning Commission and member of the Nassau County Board of Ethics.
In his legal practice, he also advised and represented various governmental entities, including the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance and public benefit corporations. He also brings administrative experience to the position having served as general counsel to various real estate investment funds.
“The village board and I are very familiar with Gerry’s ability to address, analyze and tackle a problem,” Floral Park Mayor Tom Tweedy said. “To cite just one example, Gerry’s planning and zoning experience previously benefited the village when, as trustee, he led the efforts to significantly revise the village’s zoning code to address the subdivision and overdevelopment of properties by outside contractors. We are confident his skills will be a tremendous asset to the village.”
He received his law degree from St. John’s University School of Law where he was an editor of the Law Review and a St. Thomas More Scholarship recipient. He received his undergraduate degree from The Catholic University of America. Prior to his appointment, Bambrick was a partner in the Carle Place law firm of Bambrick & Ryan. His professionalism and legal ability have earned him the highest peer review rating of AV Preeminent from Martindale Hubbell directory of legal professionals from 2001 to the present.
He was also recognized in 2011 and 2012 by Long Island Pulse Magazine as one of “Long Island’s Top Legal Eagles” in the bankruptcy field. Recently, he was included in the Irish Voice’s 2012 “Irish Legal 100.”
Bambrick has lived in Floral Park for the past 20 years with his wife, Mary, also an attorney and their four children, Christopher, Sheila, Daniel and Theresa.
