Town officials and members of the town’s youth hockey league recently welcomed New York All-Time Great Ron Greschner to the Town of Oyster Bay’s Annual Family Skate Night and Awards Ceremony held at the ice skating center in Bethpage. The event wrapped up the Town of Oyster Bay’s youth hockey season and provides the opportunity to thank the coaches and families for their support of the program.
Ron Greschner played in the National Hockey League for 16 seasons (all with the Rangers). He scored 179 goals and 431 assists for 610 points. Greschner’s best offensive season was 1977–78, when he scored 24 goals and 48 assists for 72 points.
In 2009, Greschner was ranked No. 12 on the all-time list of New York Rangers in the book 100 Ranger Greats.
“The Town of Oyster Bay’s Youth Ice Hockey Program is one of the finest in the nation and Family Skate Night recognizes everyone who helps support it,” Councilman Coschignano said. “In addition, our status as a premier partner with the New York Rangers allows us to add prestige to the event by having a special appearance from Ranger’s alumni like Ron Greschner.”
