Jonas E. Salk Middle School is proud to announce that Italian language and culture students have competed in two regional competitions.
Anthony Bologna, Clare Del Grosso, Jamie Ferris, Lynn-Patrice Midy and Megan Opallo recently participated in the annual American Association Teachers of Italian Long Island (AATILI) Italian Poetry Contest. The students recited Italian poems for judges, who evaluated their fluency, accuracy and delivery.
In addition, eighth-grade student Clare Del Grosso’s delicious ricotta cake was the first-place winner in the Cuoco di Ferro (Iron Chef) competition. Students from across Long Island submitted their favorite desserts, which were judged based on appearance, texture, authenticity and taste.
