Gladiators’ Season Rolls On

The New Hyde Park Gladiators recently played Floral Park to a 1-1 tie after 9 innings of play.  The game was called due to darkness.  Nicholas Perrone went 5 1/3 innings and Brendan Parnell threw 3 innings in relief. 

 

Reed Schweitzer, Paul Reo and Anthony Vaglica had two hits in the contest. In the next game against Glen Cove, the Gladiators lost 4-3 behind the pitching efforts of Ryan Sheridan.

 

The game was tied 3-3 in the bottom of the seventh and Glen Cove’s Vinny Copabianco hit a walk off single. Vaglica continued his hot stereak by hitting a home run in the top of the sixth to tie the game.

 

The next game was against Bethpage Eagles. Senior Will Hickey took the mound and dominated with a five-hit shutout.

 

He allowed had eight strikeouts and one walk.  Bethpage runners only reached third base once the entire game.

 

Anthony Simone hit a fielders choice for the only run the team would need. John Tomasini was 2-for-3 with a run scored on the day.  The NHP Gladiators record is now 6-2-1.
