Beautification Volunteers

Members of the Village Beautification Committee will be planting flowers on Main Street and in Village Green on Saturday, May 18 and May 25 beginning at 9 a.m. at village hall. All residents are invited and encouraged to volunteer to help beautify our village. Bring your trowels and gardening gloves. Refreshments served.

Relay For Life Fundraiser

The relay teams for Relay For Life at JFK Middle School will hold a community garage sale on May 18 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the school’s parking lot on Broadway in Bethpage. Rain date is May 19.

Farmers’ Market

The Long Island Farmers’ Market in Farmingdale is held every Sunday from May 12 through Nov. 17 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Village Parking Lot #7, behind Taste of Long Island.

Carseat Check

Assemblyman Tom McKevitt’s annual car seat safety check will be held on May 24 from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Ellsworth W. Allen Park, 45 Motor Avenue in Farmingdale. Appointments are necessary. Email: mckevitt@assembly.state.ny.us or call 516-228-4960 for an appointment.

Bonsai Day

The Cornell Cooperative Extension of Nassau County presents Bonsai Day on May 25 at East Meadow Farm, 832 Merrick Avenue in East Meadow from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Award-winning bonsai displays, and Bonsai Society of Greater New York experts will be available to answer questions. Also, gardeners can bring their bonsai for tips and advice from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Call 516-565-5265 for more information.

Carnival For A Cure

Strawberry Festival

The Farmingdale Bethpage Historical Society of Long Island will hold their annual strawberry festival on the Village Green from 2 to 4 p.m. Live music from the Banjo Rascals.

Main Street Fair

Farmingdale Village Fire Department will host the Spring Main Street Fair on June 2, rain date of June 9.

Main Street Restaurant Week

The Village of Farmingdale will hold Main Street Restaurant Week from June 3 through June 9. Enjoy specials at most downtown eateries.

JC Café  

The JC Café at Farmingdale United Methodist Church, 407 Main Street (corner of Grant Ave), will host well-known contemporary Christian singers and musicians Sam Powell and Friends on June 8.  Doors open at 7 p.m. with complimentary coffee and desserts and the program begins at 7:30 p.m.; suggested donation is $5. The Farmingdale Village Pops concerts return for another season.
