Soccer Clinic

The Garden City Park Soccer Club hold a free soccer clinic on Saturday, June 1 from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at Michael J. Tully Park in New Hyde Park. The clinic will focus on dribbling, passing and finishing.

Sunday, June 2

New Hyde Park 8K (4.97 mile) Championship Race

The New Hyde Park Running Club’s 36th annual 8K (4.97 Mile) a USA Track & Field LI Running, Race Walking, Individual & Team Grand Prix Championship Run/Walk will take place on Sunday, June 2, at the Denton Avenue School, on Denton Avenue.  There is also a 1/4-mile children’s run, which starts at 8 a.m. The 8K (4.97 Mile) Run will kick off at 8:30 a.m. and the two-mile Fitness Walk starts at 8:35 a.m.  Rain or shine.

Troop 298 Car Wash

Boy Scout Troop 298 rescheduled its car wash to June 8 at village hall. The May 11 event was called due to weather.

After Cancer Program      

The North Shore-LIJ Health System is presenting “The Path to Wellness after Cancer Survivorship Program: Medical Issues After Treatment Ends” program on Tuesday, June 11, 2013, from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the conference room at the Monter Cancer Center, located at 450 Lakeville Road, Lake Success.

This program is for cancer survivors who have completed their active treatment; caregivers and family members are welcome as well. Mark Hoffman, MD, attending physician in the division of hematology/oncology at Long Island Jewish Medical Center will be the guest speaker for the evening. June 23–29

International Soccer Training Exchange Program

AC Milan has teamed up with an International Soccer Training Exchange Program (ISTEP) to bring its 2013 Junior Camp to North Hempstead. The camp accepts ages 8-15 and runs from June 23 to 29, 9 a.m.-3 p.m. at Michael Tully Park stadium in New Hyde Park.

Camp trainers are AC Milan/Union of European Football Association (UEFA)-certified coming directly from Italy. Camp participants may be selected to participate in the worldwide AC Milan Junior Camp tournament taking place in Milan in the fall. •Boy Scout Troop 200 Of Williston Park meets every Monday between 7:30 p.m. and 9 p.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church located at Willis Ave. and Winthrop St., Williston Park. Boys 11 to 17 are welcome to join.

•Irish American Society Social Gatherings every Monday at the Irish American Center, 297 Willis Ave., Mineola, from noon to 3 p.m. In the tradition and mission of the Irish American Society, we are here to make all welcome and be part of the local community. Bring lunch. Coffee and tea will be served. Play cards, board games or just sit and socialize. A film once a month. Ladies and gents welcome. Free to all. •Relapse Prevention Support Groups are held by the LI Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence on Tuesdays from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. in its Williston Park Office, 207 Hillside Ave. Groups are facilitated by professional staff trained to help you or a loved one successfully transition from inpatient treatment back home or into a sober living environment. Aftercare and support following substance abuse treatment is an essential part of maintaining sobriety and creating a strong foundation for recovery. Call Jeffrey L. •Gam-Anon Support Group holds an anonymous meeting for spouses, adult children over 18, family and friends of those whose lives have been affected by a gambling problem. Monthly Events

•Look Good…Feel Better sponsored by LIJ Medical Center in association with the National Cosmetology Association, the Toiletry Fragrance Association and the American Cancer Society. The program reaches out to women with cancer and teaches them how to best apply makeup and wear their hair while undergoing cancer treatment. Meets on the second Monday of every month at LIJ Medical Center, 27005 76th Ave., New Hyde Park. Reservations suggested, but not required. Call Harriet Pine or Selma Robinton 718-470-7094.
