Old OB In Photographs
Raynham Hall Museum exhibit now through December features rare photographs of Oyster Bay from their collection. The photos are street scenes from 1927, 1958, and 1969 and the show includes photos of what the streetscapes look today. The museum is open Tuesday through Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m. (Labor Day weekend from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.). The museum is at 20 West Main Street, OB. For information call 922-6808.
Unframed at OBHS
The Oyster Bay Historical Society exhibit, “Unframed” features small unframed works: portrait, still life and landscape sketches that show the artist’s process of observing reality and problem solving on canvas. Classically trained artists Kristin Künc and Rob Zeller join in a visual dialog that has been going on between artists and subject for centuries. Tilles Center Art
On July 31 and Aug. 9, international artist Alli Berman, known for her PuzzleArt, will be at the Atrium at Tilles Center at LIU Post for 8 hours, starting at noon, using time-lapse photography techniques for her new “Connect to Creativity – A Social Practice Art” project project that will preserve the installation for posterity. The public is invited to attend and become part of the work. She will be available to answer questions and lead people in her “couch-potato easy” cognitive calisthenics to help them improve their memory, focus and more.

Sail the Sound for Deafness
The Mill Neck Family and co-hosts Oakcliff Sailing, The WaterFront Center, and other Oyster Bay groups, support the Sail the Sound for Deafness. Sailors are welcome to participate in the race with their own yachts too. A post-race cocktail party takes place at the Mill Neck Manor House (fee). This magnificent Tudor Revival mansion, overlooking the bay, is truly a Gold Coast treasure and a perfect site for an after-party. Film Series at LIU Post
The Song Remains The Same is playing at 7 p.m. at Tilles Center. This concert film features the English rock band Led Zeppelin, filmed during three nights of concerts at MSG in NYC. Fee, $10.
Sunday August 4
Belle Voci Concert
Founded and directed by Jennifer Scott Miceli Ph.D., Belle Voci will celebrate its 10th anniversary at 4 p.m. on August 4 at Christ Church . This intergenerational Women’s Choir performs annually to raise funds for cancer prevention and cure. Proceeds from concert ticket sales are donated to the American Cancer Society. Arts & Antiques Walk

Portrait Demo
Kristin Künc demonstrates portrait painting on Aug. 4, from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Oyster Bay Historical Society’s Koenig Center at 20 Summit Street, as part of Oyster Bay’s Art and Antique Walk. A teacher at Oyster Bay’s Teaching Studios of Art, she is featured at the current exhibit Unframed, which closes that afternoon. The program is free and open to the public. Concert Film Series At LIU Post
Heart-Alive in Seattle is playing on Aug. 4 at 7 p.m. This concert film covers footage from their 2003 performance of Seattle’s Paramount Theatre and showcases the rich musical legacy that is distintly Heart. Fee, $10: shown on the mega screen.

Graduate Open House
LUI Post holds a graduate open house on Aug. 6 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. LIU Post offers 74 graduate programs including blended master’s degrees and online advanced certificates. New is an M.A. in Applied Behavior Analysis. You can see them on the web at liu.edu/post/graduate. LIU graduates are eligible for a $1,000 scholarship per semester toward a master’s degree.

Plein Air Competition
Teaching Studios 3nd Annual Plein Air Competition will be held at Planting Fields Arboretum in Oyster Bay, on August 9 and 10. Thirty-five selected artists will compete for over $2000 in prizes donated by Jerry’s Artarama, as well as a $1000 grand prize awarded by the Teaching Studios.

Plein Art Exhibition
The Koenig Center, 20 Summit Street, Oyster Bay, exhibits 35 [plus one from juror Bennett Vadnais] Plein Art paintings of Planting Fields Arboretum Historic State Park. The reception takes place on Saturday, Aug. 10 from 7 to 9 p.m. The finalists will have their works displayed and on sale with purchases benefiting the OBHS Koenig Center’s collection development. Poetry in Motion
Dr. Linda Opyr, Nassau County Poet Laureate 2011-13, will lead a poetry workshop on the grounds of Sagamore Hill National Historic Site on Aug. 11 at both 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. Participants should bring a pen and notebook, and wear comfortable shoes and clothing. The workshop is open to individuals 12 years of age and older. No prior experience is necessary! Participants should meet at the Theodore Roosevelt Museum at Old Orchard.
