Chamber Hosts Document Shredding Fundraiser

On Saturday, Nov. 2, the Farmingdale Chamber of Commerce will host a document shredding fundraiser from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. in the Stop & Shop parking lot at 55 Motor Ave. Residents are invited to bring personal household documents (no businesses please) ATM receipts, checks, old tax records, credit card statements, and other papers containing personal information that could provide thieves an easy way to steal money or an identity to the Chamber’s Document Shredding Fundraiser. All documents are shredded in a professional Mobile Shredding Truck, while you watch, and are then recycled. Donation: $10 for up to three bags or standard size record storage boxes.

The Farmingdale Village Board of Trustees will hold its next meeting on Nov. 4, at 8 p.m. at Village Hall on 361 Main St.

Farmingdale School District Board of Ed Meeting

The Farmingdale schools Board of Education will hold its next meeting on Nov. 6 at 8 p.m. inside the Howitt Middle School cafeteria. Visit farmingdaleschools.org for meeting dates and information.

Chamber of Commerce Meeting

The Farmingdale Chamber of Commerce will hold its next meeting at noon, on Nov. 7, at Cascarino’s at 302 Main Street. At the meeting, members will elect new officers and directors.  

NYS Senator Hannon’s Free Alzheimer’s Seminar

State Sen. Kemp Hannon will be offering a free seminar about Alzheimer’s on Nov. 7, at the Bethpage Public Library on 47 Powell Ave., from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. “Alzheimer’s Disease is reaching epidemic proportions, and new reports indicate  a shortage of caregivers for seniors and a lack of support for those who need to look after aging family members,” Hannon said. The seminar will also feature guest speakers including Dr. Alan Mazurek and Tracey Kuczinski. Zoning Board Meeting

The Farmingdale Zoning Board of Appeals will hold its next meeting on Nov. 14 at 8 p.m. at Village Hall on 361 Main St.


Saturday, November 16

Gingerbread House Contest

The first ever Long Island gingerbread house contest is coming to the Chocolate Duck, at 310 Main St. in Farmingdale, on Nov. 16. Anyone interested in registering in the contest has until Nov. 1 to sign up. The judging will take place from 9 a.m. to noon and will be open to the public from noon to 4 p.m.

PTA Vendor Craft Fair

The Farmingdale High School PTA is hosting its 2nd annual Vendor Craft Fair on Saturday Nov. 16, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Commons. The event features vendors from Avon, Pampered Chef, Origami Owl, Scentsy, Tupperware, as well as personalized Holiday Ornaments, jewelry, pocketbooks, hand-painted tiles, knit hats, and more. All proceeds from this event support the PTA Scholarship Fund.

Blue Ribbon Run

The Town of Oyster Bay is hosting the Greater Long Island Running Club’s 2013 Blue Ribbon Run for Prostate Cancer at Syosset-Woodbury Community Park on Sunday, Nov. 17 at 9:30 a.m. The race, held once a year, helps to raise awareness and funds to fight prostate cancer. In addition, this year’s event will also feature free on-site prostate cancer screenings for men ages 40 and older.

The Farmingdale Village Board of Trustees will hold its next work session on Nov. 18, at 7 p.m. at Village Hall on 361 Main St.

The Community Summit meeting will be held on Nov. 21 at 7 p.m. at the Farmingdale Public Library.

Holiday Parade

Farmingdale Chamber of Commerce will hold its annual Holiday Parade on Saturday, Nov. 23, at noon. The parade will begin at Northside Elementary school and ends at the Village Green.
