Investigators with the Nassau County Fire Marshal’s office are currently looking into the cause of a suspicious blaze, that emerged from a two-story home on Adams Avenue in Bethpage.
On Oct. 25, members of the Bethpage Fire Department responded to the fire. Upon arrival, units found heavy smoke billowing out of the two-story home and stretched the first line to the front door. Hicksville’s Ladder 931 was the fast truck and First Assistant Chief Richard Resto was in command of the operation.
Additional crews later arrived, stretching a second line as the truck company vented and conducted a primary search for anyone in the house.
“Nobody was injured,” said John Fitzwilliam, public information officer for the Bethpage Fire Department.
Although the cause of the house fire remains unknown, an investigation is currently being conducted by the Nassau County Fire Marshal’s office.
“[Investigators] haven’t gotten back to us,” Fitzwilliam added. “As far as I know, it is still under investigation.”
James Hickman, supervisor of investigations with the Fire Marshal’s office, said that while he could not disclose any details surrounding the county’s ongoing investigation, the fire was incendiary in nature.
