Obituary: WILLENBROCK, Berthold D.

Berthold Daniel Willenbrock, a former 54 year resident of Farmingdale, passed away on Nov. 4, 2013. He was in his 98th year of life. Beloved husband, married 72 years to his late wife Jean Allan. He was the loving leader of three generations to include his daughters Jean Marie Bogiages and her partner Scott Cole and Carol Willenbrock and her partner Lou Anne C. De Baca, and his son Paul Willenbrock and wife Lynn. Also loving grandfather of Brad Willenbrock and  wife Christina, Megan Willenbrock, Christina Bogiages and  husband Andre Barbosa Garcia and the late Andrew Bogiages. Great-grandfather of Braden, Amalia and Gabriela.  Born in Mount Vernon, he proudly served as Second Lieutenant in the US Army, taught English in the School for the Deaf as well as in Patchogue.  He retired as Vice President of Student Affairs after 25 yrs at the State University New York at Farmingdale. Bert enjoyed swimming, tennis, bowling and bridge as was always happy to teach these games to others.  His life’s goal and purpose was to love his family and through counseling, to continuously help others improve themselves through positive thinking and education.  A Memorial Service celebrating his life will be held in December in Wisconsin where all the family will convene traveling in from Massachusetts, California and Brazil.

 

Donations may be made to the Farmingdale College Foundation, 2350 Broad Hollow Road, Farmingdale, New York 11735. Monies collected will be awarded to a dorm student in need of financial aid and given in the name of Berthold D. Willenbrock.
