Successful Season For Adaptive Soccer Club

socThanks in great part to the combined efforts of Coastal Soccer, co-chairs Connie Feiner and Robin Held, and amazing teenage volunteers, The Manhasset Soccer Club’s Adaptive Special Needs Soccer program had a hugely successful season. The Manhasset Soccer Club fully funds adaptive soccer, which is open and free to all children with special needs from Manhasset and the surrounding communities.

This season, the program saw a dramatic increase in attendance, a record number of participants and outstanding dedication from the volunteers. Three reliable, enthusiastic volunteers attended every session, bringing a lot of energy to the program. Spring registration will open in January. With the professional guidance of Coastal Soccer and outstanding contributions from Jack Keogh of Manhasset High School and Sacred Heart Academy students Diana Girgenti and Maggie Mahon, the program was well organized and tailored to the individual needs of the children.Manhasset High School students Devon Smith, Peter McAree, and Katherine Kelly also contributed this fall. The volunteers went all out this season, some in attendance every week, assisting the children even in the pouring rain.

Adaptive Program volunteers are eligible for community service credits through the District Coordinator of Social Studies and Home Careers by downloading the form from the Manhasset High School website and documenting their hours.
