Port Washington’s PAL, a 65-year-old not-for-profit youth sports organization, has announced its professionally run winter sports programs for various age and skill levels. Programs are open to all regardless of location, ability, or experience level.
Volleyball for boys and girls in third through fifth grades will be held Wednesday nights from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Daly School gym, starting Jan. 15. The fee is $195 and scholarships are available if needed.
Soccer for boys and girls in Pre-K through third grade will meet Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. for pre-travel players, and 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. for “Kickin` Kiddies.” Programs start Jan. 11, at the Parisi Speed School (The school is located at 2 Channel Drive, in the parking lot behind Safavieh Carpet). The fee for this class is $195.
Matt LaVanco, hockey coach from Molloy HS, is back to lead the floor hockey program. Floor hockey for boys and girls in third through fifth grades will meet Wednesdays from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Daly School gym. The fee for this program is $125.
The championship winning softball and baseball programs will see a step-up in training by partnering with Frozen Ropes Syosset to offer an intense 10-week training session. Baseball winter workouts start Saturday Jan. 11 for all athletes. Boys 10U and younger meet 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Boys 12U and older, 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., and all ages softball 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. All workouts are open to all and all sessions led by Frozen Ropes instructors. Additional weeknight batting practice and pitching instruction sessions will be held.
