Ffoure Pounds Sterling, an exhibit at the Oyster Bay Historical Society’s Koenig Center is open now through Jan. 19, 2014. View the 1653 First Purchase agreement with the Matinecocks, preserved in the Office of the Town Clerk in Oyster Bay, as well as the 1661 agreement granting Henry Townsend permission to build his mill at Mill Pond. Kirk Larsen Art Exhibit
Artist Kirk Larsen will display his artwork in the Locust Valley Library’s Community Room now through Jan. 26. The room is open from 9:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Raffle For MSA

Locust Valley Community Blood Drive
A special Community Blood Drive, sponsored by the Locust Valley Rotary Club and the Locust Valley Fire Department, will be held on Friday, Dec. 27, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Locust Valley Firehouse on Buckram Road. Close to 2,000 community residents need blood transfusions every day. From surgery patients to accident victims to cancer patients, blood donations are an important part of our health care system. Though the separate components of one pint of donated blood could save as many as three different lives, it is important to remember that blood is perishable and has a shelf life of only 42 days. Donors that they can give blood every 56 days. If you want to donate but cannot make the blood drive, contact the New York Blood Center at 1-800-933-2566 or go to www.nybloodcenter.org. Walk-ins are welcome and a limited amount of appointments are available through the website only. All donors will benefit from a free mini-medical exam. Donors must weigh at least 110 pounds, be between 16 and 75 years of age and in good health, and are asked to provide a valid form of photo identification. Donors with medical questions or concerns are asked to call the Blood Center at 1-800-688-0900.

There will be a blood drive at the Oyster Bay Public Library on Dec. 28, from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Your donation will help save up to three lives! For questions concerning medical eligibility call 1-800-688-0900. To schedule an appointment, call the Reference Desk at 922-1212. Each donor will receive a free t-shirt and a chance to win a pair of tickets to the 2014 Super Bowl at MetLife Stadium! (last appointment is at 2:45 p.m.).

New Year’s Party
The Robert H. Spittel Post 1285 of Bayville, is holding a New Year’s Eve event from 7:30 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. There is limited seating so please reserve early by calling Rich at 628-1993 or 628-2512. Town Board Meeting
The Oyster Bay Town Board meets on the first Tuesday of the year on Jan. 7 at 10 a.m. There will be no official inauguration ceremony for newly elected officials but there will be a swearing in for them, at the conclusion of this meeting. To check the agenda, go to their website: oysterbaytown.com and look under calendars and you can print it out. Please sign in at the desk in front if you wish to speak to the board after the meeting.

Muttontown Preserve Walk
There will be a guided nature walk at the Muttontown Preserve on Jan. 12. Meet at the Bill Patterson Nature Center, at the end of Muttontown Lane, East Norwich, at 10 a.m., reservations required: call 516-571-8500. There is a fee of $5: the tour covers rough terrain in several areas of the preserve, Nassau County’s largest nature preserve.

Spymasters Lecture
Raynham Hall Museum presents the second of its lecture series “Spymasters: The uses of Intelligence in a Dangerous World.” The series was inspired by the museum’s identity as the home of a central member of George Washington’s Culper Spy Ring, a forerunner of today’s C.I.A. The speaker on Jan. 19, is Brian Kilmeade the author of George Washington’s Secret Six of which one is Robert Townsend, Culper, Jr. The event will be held at the Seawanhaka Corinthian Yacht Club from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $100 each, or $75 for members and includes a buffet supper. The third lecture in the series will be by Evan Thomas speaking on March 9. A “Local son” Thomas has authored eight books. His most recent is Ike’s Bluff: President Eisenhower’s Secret Battle to Save the World (2012). Space is limited, so please call 516-922-6808 to reserve.

OBHS Winter Reception
The Oyster Bay Historical Society hosts the opening of their new exhibit at a reception from 6 to 8 p.m. on Jan. 31. Snow Day In Oyster Bay will display items from their collection related to winter. That includes bobsleds, skates and costumes on loan from Monica Randall. The exhibit runs through March 23. For information please call 922-5032.
Food Pantry
The North Shore Assembly of God, 84 Orchard St, Oyster Bay is operating a new food pantry for the community. It is meant to supplement the growing needs of the community. It is open on Tuesdays during their prayer times: 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. If you are in need of their service, please call Pastor Diane at 922-2547 and make an appointment to complete their screening process.
