Raymond Henry Fara, 89 years old and a Manhasset resident of 54 years, passed away after a long illness on December 21, 2013.
Ray was beloved husband of the late Helene Fara, loving father to Michael Henry Fara, grandfather to Christopher Henry Fara, and father-in-law to Mary Koval. Ray was also a loving brother to Arline Pohovey, an uncle to Linda (Douglas) Novak, Nancy (James) Egerton, and Steven (Sandra) Pohovey, as well as great- uncle to numerous nieces and nephews; all in the Chicago, Illinois area. Ray is survived by many beloved cousins.
Achieving the rank of Ensign in the United States Navy, Ray served as a pilot during World War II from 1943 through 1946. He graduated Purdue University with a degree in engineering and went on to obtain his Master of Business Administration degree from Hofstra University. Ray was a salesman for Texas Instruments before founding his own company, Ray Fara Associates.
Ray had many interests including gardening, bird-watching, and music. In 1977, he founded and served as President of the Pilsner Brass Band, Long Island, NY which is active to this day. He was an animal lover and an avid stamp collector.
