cyoSt. Mary’s 8th grade Prestamo lost to Sacred Heart on Saturday 42-32. Joe Notaro lead the scorers with 14 points. Devin Kennedy added 8 points and Gabriel Cohen scored 6. Ryan Miglio also hit a big shot. The boys came back the next day and played a well balanced game beating St. Williams 40-26. Joe Notaro lead scorers with 12 points while Devin Kennedy dropped in 8 points. Peter Spampinato hit a clutch basket.

Over the weekend, 8th grade boys coached by Slezak/Zaffiro won both their games, improving their record to 5-1. St. Mary’s was led offensively by Jordan Idaspe, Jake Temares and Marc Slezak, with strong defense turned in by Jack Shelley, Jack Cargiulo and Jack Zaffiro.

St. Mary’s 7th grade team 7 defeated St. James, East Setauket 64-55. Timmy Kiggins notched 27 and Louis Perfetto went 8 for 9 from the stripe in the last 2 minutes. Eddie Arnold and Joseph Mulholland played inspired defense. Steven Vlahakis netted 8 and Chris Themelis ranged in 12. Solid play by Duncan Barcelona, Chris Glynn and Charlie Young. Patrick Weber and Steven Salerno continue to play well off the DL.

St.Mary’s 5th grade team Mulholland/Casey held on to beat St.Barnabas Sunday 25-20. After leading the whole game, St. Barnabas rallied to tie game 20-20 with 2 minutes left . Boys played great defensive lead by Will Casey, Jack Cacioppo, Lucas Fuhrman, Alek Turkmen. Scoring was lead by Aidan Mulholland, Teddy Moulhas ,Nolan Garcia, Aidan Dohery and Patrick Jarvis. Team has a 4-2 record at the halfway point on season.

The St. Mary’s 7th Grade Tsartsalis/Runac/Barry squad improved its record to 3-4 with a come-from-behind, 36-32, home court win over St. William, Seaford, St. Mary’s trailed, 13-5, after the first quarter. Stelio Katopodis (15 points) and Leo Tsartsalis (10 points) were the top scorers for St. Mary’s. J.P. Aliprantis (5 points), Michael Runac (4 points) and Nicholas Barry (2 points) also contributed to the offense. In addition, St. Mary’s benefited from the strong rebounding of Ryan Sullivan and Matt Abrakian as well as the effective back-court play of Michael Polis and Victor D’Angelo.
