North Hempstead and The U.S. Civil War
Local history enthusiast Matthew Moshen has uncovered approximately 175 North Hempstead residents who fought, received wounds, and died in the military services, including the U.S. Colored Regiments. Moshen will discuss his research on these local veterans, including the renown “Willis Brigade,” made up predominantly of Roslyn volunteers at 7:30 p.m. in the community room of the Great Neck main library, 159 Bayview Ave.
