Spring school recess is coming and the Gold Coast Arts Center has the perfect way to keep pre-k, elementary and middle school children busy during their school break: Vacation Arts, an immersion in music, art, ceramics, chess, acting, cartooning, and yoga taught by experienced Arts Center educators.
Students can enroll in any combination of days of activities, held from April 14 to 17, and April 21 to 22, from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Arts Center modern, state of the art facilities at 113 Middle Neck Rd., Great Neck, above the Squire Cinemas. A sliding enrollment scale allows parents to choose the number of days they would like their child to attend, and pay only for actual days of instruction. The more days of attendance, the lower the daily tuition.
“Vacation Arts at The Arts Center provides constant stimulation and energy in the arts,” said school Director Ellen Schiff. “The multi-disciplinary program provides many arts activities, all packed into one fun-filled day. There are even lots of take-home projects.”
She said The Arts Center is the only area facility with multiple modern rooms, each geared for specific arts activities. For further information about the Vacation Arts program, enrollment options and detailed information call Ms. Schiff at 829-2570 or visit www.goldcoastarts.org.
Yoga Classes for Young Children
Yoga for children 4 to 8 years old is coming to The Gold Coast Arts Center. A new six-week mini series is being presented in Great Neck by Yogi Beans, the popular New York City based children’s yoga company during March and April.
Yogi Beans founder and co-owner Lauren Chaitoff will be teaching the popular, unique Yogi Beans classes which incorporate a fun, developmentally appropriate curriculum that balances structured activities and free-flowing movement with traditional yoga poses.
Classes are designed to engage, stimulate, and relax young children after a busy day.
Sessions will be held on Fridays from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. on March 7,14, 21 and 28, and April 4 and 11. Class will have a maximum of only ten students, so space is limited.
