The Saint Dominic High School Drama Club presented Once Upon A Mattress last weekend, a retelling of the old fairy tale “The Princess and the Pea.” Princess Winnifred is put to the test by the manipulative Queen Aggravain, who does not want her son, Prince Dauntless, to get married.
Although snow and bad weather cut into the 22-member cast’s four-month-long rehearsal schedule, the lost rehearsal time didn’t appear to have any meaningful effect, as the actors delighted all those in attendance with their singing and dancing. Before leaving the stage Saturday evening after the curtain calls, even the cast was cheering as the actors shouted in unison. Director Kate Reilly, Assistant Director Deacon Rick Iandoli, and Musical Director Shekinah Brosnan are all very proud of the job that the kids did.
