The Greater Long Island Running Club recently gave special awards to the Club’s 85-89 Age Group Champions Bert Jablon of Syosset and Ruth Maller of Massapequa Park.
“We are thrilled to have such incredible athletes as part of our Club and of the Long Island running community,” noted Club President Mike Polansky. “By participating — and excelling — in running events deep into their 80s, Bert and Ruth are outstanding examples of what seniors can accomplish.”
The awards were given in the Auditorium of the Plainview-Old Bethpage Public Library with an audience of more than 200 runners and their friends on hand. With a membership of 4600 runners, the Greater Long Island Running Club is the second largest running club in New York State.
